The candidate will provide leadership and supervision for the Library's Access Services unit. Responsibilities will include developing and evaluating a large support staff, managing the unit's scheduling and workflow, strategic planning, and assisting library users with circulation issues. Additional duties include overseeing a busy Reserves Collection and stack maintenance. Candidate will act as liaison to the university-wide Office of Library Services on matters concerning circulation and the Aleph operating system. Candidate will participate in the Library's instruction programs and serve at the Reference desk. S/he will also contribute to overall library collection development by serving as a liaison to faculty in assigned department/program areas to solicit recommendations of titles for acquisition in support of designated curriculum/subject areas. Provides support to designated departments to review curriculum items and grant proposals.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
ALA accredited MLS degree required for appointment as an Instructor. ALA accredited MLS degree plus second master's degree or doctorate required for an appointment as an Assistant Professor.
Candidate should have 2 years of working experience preferably in Circulation or Access Services. Candidate should also have experience working with an automated library management system.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work with people in a collegial, collaborative environment are also requirements for the position. Supervisory experience will be a plus.
