Acquisitions Librarian, University of Florida

The George A. Smathers Libraries is currently recruiting for an Acquisitions Librarian at the University of Florida Libraries. The Acquisitions Librarian is instrumental in assisting the Acquisitions Department Chair in coordinating the acquisition, management, and access of e-book content and in developing and managing demand-driven collection building efforts, including shared e-book plans. The Acquisitions Librarian organizes departmental training to develop technical services competencies, and serves as training liaison for acquisitions functions carried out by staff and faculty external to the Acquisitions Department. The Acquisitions Librarian in conjunction with the chair of the department partners with librarians from the State University Libraries (SUL) and other library consortia, Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), and other cooperative partnerships to conduct acquisitions and collection management projects. Acquisitions Librarian: University of Florida, Gainseville, FL

The University of Florida - The George A. Smathers Libraries and the Acquisitions Department seeks a creative, innovative, and service-oriented individual to serves as Associate Chair and assists the Acquisitions Department Chair to establish strategic goals for the department, and manages the daily operations and functions of procuring resources and materials in a variety of formats to build the libraries’ collections and support its mission. The Associate Chair/Acquisitions Librarian conducts ongoing analysis of existing workflows; then creates initiatives and develops online tools to improve methods and procedures for acquiring resources in a timely, cost-effective method. This position is instrumental in coordinating the acquisition and access of e-book content and assists the department chair in developing and managing demand-driven collection building efforts, including shared e-book plans. The Associate Chair/Acquisitions Librarian routinely works with staff from departments within the division as well as selectors and staff across the University to develop interdepartmental projects, reporting, and initiatives. Organizes and leads departmental training to develop technical services competencies, and serves as department training liaison for acquisitions functions carried out by staff and faculty external to the Acquisitions Department. The Acquisitions Librarian will partner with librarians from the State University Libraries (SUL) and other library consortia, Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), and cooperative partnerships to conduct acquisitions and collection management projects; and, will serve on state and national library committees.

Instruction Consultant and Training Program Coordinator, Univ. of Florida

POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: Instruction Consultant and Training Program Coordinator

The George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida is seeking an experienced, skilled, and dedicated individual to serve as the Instruction Consultant and Training Program Coordinator works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Assistant Program Director for HR in managing the Smathers Libraries training and development efforts including assessing needs, establishing curriculum and evaluating outcomes. This position will be responsible for designing and assisting in the delivery of library-specific trainings for 300 library staff and faculty, as well as coordinating trainings offered through professional organizations, the UF Training and Development Office, and other sources. The Instruction Consultant and Training Program Coordinator also serves as consultant and instructional design and delivery expert for 80 library faculty, including subject specialists and instruction librarians, and staff in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of instruction provided by the Libraries to the University. This position will provide expertise, training, coaching and consultation on instructional efforts including the preparation of resources and supportive materials to facilitate traditional, online and hybrid learning; improve access for remote users; and expand the effective use of educational tools such as asynchronous and synchronous technologies, screen capture, video conferencing, video tutorials, webinars, and online discussions and chat, and new technologies as they become available.

Political Science Librarian, University of Florida

Political Science Librarian, Assistant University Librarian

This position will provide reference assistance, instruction, outreach and collection management to support the large faculty and student populations and academic programs in this discipline. University Archivist. University of Florida

The George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida is recruiting for the position of University Archivist, a tenure-track library faculty position, which provides vision and leadership in the newly created Office of Archives and Records Management in the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections. Reporting to the Head of Archives and Manuscripts, the University Archivist supervises 3 full-time employees and is responsible for developing and implementing a plan to create an integrated archives and records management program for the University of Florida. In conjunction with the University Historian, this position is also responsible for developing programs that recognize the significance of the University's role as a land-grant institution, its contribution to applied and theoretical research, its rich and diverse student life, its achievements in inter-collegiate sports, and its overall influence on Florida's history. As a member of the department staff the University Archivist contributes to the overall public service, collection management, and technical services functions of the department. New Vacancy - Curator of the Baldwin Library, Univ. of Florida

The University of Florida - The George A. Smathers Libraries and the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections seeks a creative, innovative, and service-oriented individual to develop and manage all aspects of its Baldwin Library of Historical Children's Literature, one of the largest collections of English language children’s books in the world (including materials published from the mid-1600’s to date). The incumbent will promote awareness of and access to this collection through in-library activities (cataloging, digitization, etc.) and outreach efforts on the UF campus and beyond including lectures and preparation of exhibits. Working collaboratively on departmental and interdepartmental group efforts, the curator will maintain close professional relationships with faculty, students and colleagues and participate in the general department public services program, including Research Room desk duty, to assist patrons and encourage greater awareness and use of the collections (and including providing advanced research assistance on the Baldwin Library collection). Architecture Archives Curator: University of Florida - George A. Smathers Libraries



The University of Florida - George A. Smathers Libraries seeks an innovative and knowledgeable Architecture Archives Curator. This is a non-tenure accruing faculty position which manages and develops the Architecture Archives in the Department of Special and Area Studies. The Architecture Archives Curator will work closely with faculty and students in the College of Design, Construction and Planning, and will provide researcher assistance, instruction, and outreach to support academic programs in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, construction and design. The Architecture Archives Curator will work collaboratively with archivists and librarians in the Department of Special and Area Studies Collections, librarians in the Architecture and Fine Arts Library, and with digital and technical services librarians and staff to improve library services for users. A key responsibility of this position is to facilitate successful fundraising activities and other appropriate library development efforts: working closely with the Smathers Libraries Development Office, maintaining excellent relations with existing donors, and identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors.
