Coordinator of Library Instruction – Full time
Position Description:
The B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library is seeking a Coordinator of Library Instruction to oversee and teach in the library’s multifaceted instructional programs. The coordinator will organize, manage, and publicize existing programs; become aware of the ever-evolving information needs of a dynamic student body; keep abreast of the university faculty’s changing curricular requirements and teaching initiatives; and be knowledgeable about governmental, professional, and accreditation standards concerning teaching outcomes and information literacy. The coordinator will make recommendations to develop new instructional programs; apply relevant technologies to teaching, learning and instructional design; and work with faculty in all disciplines; librarians, and administrators to maximize the effectiveness of all library instruction programs. The coordinator will also teach in some of the information literacy and bibliographic instruction programs, and act as a teacher and mentor for other librarians involved in these activities. The coordinator will serve undergraduate and graduate students, both traditional and non-traditional, who attend courses on campus, but will in the future also address the needs of students enrolled in distance learning and blended programs. The Coordinator of Library Instruction is a tenure-track, faculty status position.
Qualifications:
Applications must have an MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited library school and at least two years of experience working in an academic library, preferably in an instructional or reference capacity. Additionally, applicants must have academic strength in pedagogy, including the effective use of instructional technologies and courseware in teaching; experience in administering assessment instruments or carrying out other assessment methods; facility at planning new instructional programs; a strong commitment to serve undergraduate and graduate students; excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills; an ability to interact constructively and collaborate with a diverse group of patrons and co-workers; ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment; strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to encourage innovation and creativity; and a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
Instruction and Reference Librarian– full time
Position Description:
Teach in several aspects of the library’s instruction programs devoted to information literacy, electronic research skills, bibliographic techniques and related competencies, designed to benefit students from their freshman through their graduate years. Besides teaching classes and groups, he or she will also offer individualized library instruction to students, faculty, administrators, and staff. In addition, the I. & R. librarian will provide one-on-one reference and research assistance using both print and electronic sources to a diverse clientele in a broad range of academic subjects. This librarian will act as a liaison to selected academic departments, will have some collection development duties, and will be active in library and campus-wide committees. This individual will work with other librarians to develop, assess, and promote the library’s instructional and reference activities. This librarian will serve undergraduate and graduate students – both traditional and non-traditional – who attend courses on campus but will in the future also address the needs of students enrolled in distance learning and blended programs. The Instruction and Reference librarian is a tenure-track, faculty status position.

Electronic Resources and Distance Learning Librarian – full time
Position Description:
The candidate must demonstrate personal initiative in applying relevant technologies to teaching, learning and instructional design; must also be able to meet changing user needs; to learn, to critically evaluate and to troubleshoot new technologies. Must have teaching skills necessary to create and deliver a wide range of information literacy initiatives; must collaborate and communicate with library administration and faculty and have research and instructional skills needed to support faculty research and teaching initiatives. The candidate must have expertise in an online medium. And have the vision to translate traditional library services into online medium, including digital information and management of knowledge. The Electronic Resources and Distance Learning librarian is a tenure-track, faculty status position.
Qualifications:
MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited library school and at least two years of public service experience in an academic library. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and presentation skills; an ability to interact and collaborate with a diverse group of patrons and co-workers; an ability to work both independently and in a team environment. The candidate should be familiar with commonly used computing, web and digital multi-media technologies and metadata standards for the representation of library information in electronic format. The candidate should know Web design principles, have experience with site development and have project management and assessment skills.
Special Information:
Strong preference will be given to a candidate with a second Master’s degree or 30 additional graduate credits, and the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
