ACRL/NY Annual Symposium - The Global Librarian: Information Without Borders, December 2, 2011

Registration is Now Open!

ACRL/NY Annual Symposium “The Global Librarian: Information without Borders”

Friday, December 2, 2011

Academic librarians serve increasingly diverse populations, across a variety of platforms at home and around the world. As higher education becomes more global – and mobile – physical distance is no longer a barrier to teaching and learning. Through innovated use of progressive technologies, academic librarians are mastering the skills needed to navigate this expanding environment. At this symposium, we will see how information is not bound by physical borders – nor is the global librarian.

Come join the conversation!

Innovation by Design: Revisioning the Library -- Friday, December 10, 2010

Design impacts everything we do. What does this mean for libraries? Design comes into play as we craft our collections, create instruction programs, construct user-centered websites, renovate buildings, and redesign our policies. It mediates our information-seeking behavior, connects us with both students and faculty, and influences our interactions with our physical environment. This year’s symposium looks at design in academic libraries from four very different perspectives. Come join the conversation.

Emerging Leadership in Academic Libraries

Leaders inspire and motivate us. Leaders create vision and purpose. But what does it take to be a leader in today’s academic library? How do we mentor and sustain leaders within our organizations? How do we take charge of our own career paths and move into leadership roles? This symposium will address these questions while opening up a discussion of leadership across the different stages of librarianship.

Speakers:

Brian Mathews
Amanda Etches-Johnson
Mary Carmen Chimato
Damon Jaggars
