Theatre Library Association Book Awards, Oct. 8

The Theatre Library Association will be celebrating its 42nd Annual Theatre Library Association Book Awards on Friday, October 8th! We hope that you can join us to honor and congratulate this year's winners.

42nd Annual Theatre Library Association Book Awards

Theatre Library Association celebrates exceptional performing arts books and honors one of its outstanding members at the Lincoln Center ceremony being held on October 8th! In addition to the award winners, the 2010 Freedley and Wall juries have designated one additional title in each category as a special jury prize winner. Please join us to congratulate this year's winners.

**George Freedley Memorial Award**

The Pantomime Life of Joseph Grimaldi: Laughter, Madness and the Story of Britain’s Greatest Comedian by Andrew McConnell Stott.Canongate, 2009.

The Special Jury Prize Winner is Marc Robinson, author of The American Play: 1787-2000. Yale University Press.

**Richard Wall Memorial Award**

Film, A Sound Art by Michel Chion. Translated by Claudia Gorbman. Columbia University Press, 2009.

The Special Jury Prize Winner is Rob King, author of The Fun Factory: The Keystone Film Company and the Emergence of Mass Culture. University of California Press.


The awards ceremony will be highlighted by presentations from the winning authors on the research and writing of their books, followed by questions from the audience.

A TLA member will also be honored at the ceremony. A special award for Distinguished Service in Performing Arts Librarianship will be presented to Kevin Winkler, former Assistant Director of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

The presentation will take place promptly at 6:00 P.M. following the annual TLA business meeting at 5:30 P.M. in the Bruno Walter Auditorium of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (enter at Amsterdam and 65th Street). A champagne reception will follow.
